A New Student’s Perspective: My Experience at The Kalyani School

Joining a new school in Class XI can be intimidating. Walking into a place where everyone already has their own friend groups made me nervous, but those worries disappeared much sooner than I had expected. From the very first day, the warmth and kindness of both my teachers and classmates, made me feel like I belonged. Today, as a Class XII student and the House Captain of Godavari House, I can confidently say that joining The Kalyani School has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my school life.

One of the first things I noticed was the school’s teaching methodology in education. Here, learning goes beyond textbooks. The learning-teaching methodology encourages students to ask questions, think independently and apply concepts to real-life situations. Every classroom discussion is engaging, making learning both meaningful and enjoyable.

Joining the Student Council in my very first year, gave me opportunities I had never imagined. As House Captain, I learnt valuable lessons in leadership, teamwork and responsibility. Managing these responsibilities often meant missing classes, but I never had to worry about falling behind. My teachers were always willing to spare time before or after school, to help me catch up, clear my doubts and ensure I never missed out on learning. Their constant support made balancing academics and leadership much easier.

Another unforgettable experience was participating in the International Award for Young People (IAYP). The Practice Journey, with its overnight camp at school, was filled with exciting activities that brought us closer as a team. During the Adventure Journey, we applied everything we had learnt — from pitching our own tents to learning first aid and working together in unfamiliar situations. It was a unique experience that taught me independence, resilience and teamwork in a way no classroom ever could.

The school has also given me countless opportunities beyond academics. Being a part of MACE – Mad About Civilisations and Empires, one of the biggest events at The Kalyani School, was truly memorable. The entire campus transformed with beautifully decorated stalls, vibrant performances and enthusiastic participation, while the proceeds were donated to charity, making the event even more meaningful. I also had the opportunity to be a part of the Organising Committee of IKMUN, where I learnt the importance of planning, collaboration and leadership, while working behind the scenes.

As students progress through CBSE secondary education , the school also prepares them for life beyond school. The Career Counselling Department regularly organises sessions with experienced counsellors, university representatives and professionals from different fields, helping students make informed decisions about their future.

Whether it is the pre-primary school in Pune, the primary school in Pune, or the senior years, the focus is always on holistic development. As someone who joined only in Class XI, I can honestly say that The Kalyani School gave me much more than an education. It gave me confidence, unforgettable experiences and opportunities that helped me grow into a better version of myself.
