The month of March was marked by the Form Morning of Grade X and Form Afternoon of Grade XII, which were conducted on 20th and 23rd of March, respectively. The topic was ‘A Quest for Freedom’, through which, the students paid tribute to the brave-hearts, who had paved the way to the freedom of our beloved Motherland in 1947, from the shackles of British tyranny. This year, both the Board batches performed the same play, so that they could imbibe the moral strength and values from our revered and most beloved national heroes.
While preparing for these events, they got a chance to be carefree for a few days, to enjoy their various creative roles, to have unadulterated fun with their friends, to renew bonds with their teachers beyond the classrooms, and to forget the general rigours of life. This respite was necessary, so that they could create happy memories of the remaining days in school, which they would cherish forever. Like they do in every event, the children delivered a performance that left an indelible impression on the audience. They ignited the patriotic fervour that lies dormant in every Indian heart. The prominent characters of Mangal Pandey, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Jawaharlal Nehru were brought to life, by the young students.
It was definitely not a child’s play to represent the entire struggle of the Indian freedom movement, which spanned approximately 190 years, from 1757 to 1947 – a movement that served as a testament to the indomitable spirit of a nation striving for liberty, equality, and justice. The scene transitions were seamlessly facilitated by the narrators, as they walked us from one episode to another. The radiant costumes, the poignant episodes, the meticulously coordinated dance moves, and the impeccable notes of the choir, recreated those episodes that each Indian is proud of and grateful for.
