3 Things To Consider While Seeking Admission In Grade XI

30th June 2021

3 Things To Consider While Seeking Admission In Grade XI

By Grade X, you’ve had enough time to figure out which subjects you excel in and love studying, versus which ones you dislike. It’s critical to be aware of your strengths and weaknesses at this point in the decision-making process. However, only a small percentage of students know exactly what they want to do with their lives and which subject stream they need to choose, to succeed.

On the other hand, the majority of students require assistance in determining their future steps. A small percentage of people make decisions based on what their friends and parents believe is best for them. Make a call to our Career counsellor via the Admission counsellor, for making the right decision .Here are three simple things you can do today, to assist you to make the best decision possible for tomorrow’s success.

Step 1: You’re Your Best Support

Your parents, school counsellors and even your friends are all great when it comes to seeking advice. But, no one knows what you’re truly passionate about better than you do. Hence, you need to become acutely self aware of what you want to do in your life. A good place to start is by making a list of:

  • Subjects you would like to continue
  • Subjects you would like to discontinue
  • Subjects you are confused or unsure of
Once this is done, you need to ask yourself more specific questions for the subjects that you’re confused about. Some of these questions can be:

  • Do I really like the subject?
  • Am I good at it and could I be better if I had the right guidance and coaching?
  • Am I willing to spend time improving my knowledge and understanding of the subject, and get good grades in class 11?
  • Step 2: Pick A Stream

Based on the answers to the questions above, the next step is to pick a stream that allows you to study the subjects you like the most. At The Kalyani School, we offer three prominent streams:

    Science

Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics ( Standard and Applied )and Biology are the core subjects in the Science stream. Medicine, Engineering and Technology, and Pure Sciences are just a few of the lucrative, traditional job opportunities available after the Science stream. If students want to leave this stream after high school, they can enrol in the Commerce and Humanities Stream for undergraduate studies.

    Commerce

Business Studies, Economics, Accountancy, and Mathematics (Standard and Applied) are the core subjects of the Commerce stream. Students interested in professions in finance, accounting, investment banking, and entrepreneurship, among other fields, often choose Commerce with Mathematics. In India, students who pick the Commerce stream are unable to pursue undergraduate courses in the Science stream. Humanities subjects, on the other hand, are an option.

    Humanities

History, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, and Political Science are examples of fundamental Social Science subjects in the Humanities stream. Students in the humanities can pursue jobs in areas such as mass communication, journalism, writing, filmmaking, community service and teaching, to name a few. In India, students who pursue Humanities as a major are unable to pursue Science or Commerce as a major.

Step 3: Take Your Long Term Career Goals Into Consideration

This is a difficult but necessary step. Consider your future and move backwards from there to where you are now. You should consider what is most essential to you. Do you like structure and working alone, or do you prefer working as part of a group? Do you like routine or flexibility in your life? These are crucial questions that will help you determine the type of job you want to pursue and then the appropriate Subject stream to get you there. There’s no doubt that seeking admissions in Grade XI can be a daunting task, as the decisions you take now can impact your entire life. Once you’ve made a decision about which stream you want to pursue, our support staff will gladly help you and support you to not only excel in school, but also with further education. So, if you want admissions for Grade XI, consider filling out our enquiry form now.
